Melbourne Cup Day 2008

So, yesterday was Cup Day and it was a public holiday in Melbourne. Every year, Cup Day is held every first Tuesday of Nov and during this day, Ozzies would dress up and spend their day at the racers. What Melbourne cup day actually is...it is Australia's major thoroughbred horse race, also known as the race that stops the nation. Racegoers would flood the racers during this day, both young and old, trying to catch a glimpse of winning horses and mingling with socialites and local celebs. Of course, apart from the horses, it was a day of fashion and fun for all racegoers.

Well, I wasn't there to see the race for myself but newspapers were flooded with pics and news this morning regarding this nation stopping event. All pictures below are taken from The Age.
